KIRIGAMI
About us:
Kirigami is a small, mother-daughter cattery in New Jersey exclusive to Siberian Forest Cats.
We have been breeding Siberians since 2016 and were first attracted to the breed due to their oversized personalities and dog-like traits.
We are deeply appreciative of the help we have received along the way from our fellow breeders.
Our sweet kittens are raised underfoot with loads of love, care and attention.
All our cats are registered with TICA.

Siberian Forest Cats
The Siberian has purred his way into the hearts of North American cat lovers in record time. These Russian national treasures are known for their size, thick luxurious fur, and dog-like devotion. Siberian cats are very personable and want to be near their owners. They enjoy the company of children, dogs, and other animals. They are fearless and easygoing. Not much disturbs their natural calm and equanimity.
Personality
Siberians have big hearts to match their size. They are devoted, smart, loving family cats with a generous dose of curiosity and playfulness. They are often big talkers and they readily learn their names and come when called. They are also excellent typists and quite handy at the computer if you ever need an email sent before it is completed...
Appearance
The Siberian is one of the largest breeds of cats with an overall appearance of power, strength and alertness softened by their sweet attentive faces. At maturity (approximately 5 years), males will weigh approximately 10-15 pounds and females 8-10 pounds. They have powerful and slightly longer hind legs which gives them extreme agility - they are great leapers.
The Siberian has a rounded barrel-shaped torso and a broad, modified wedge-shaped head with rounded contours, rounded ears and round eyes. Siberians possesses a thick, semi-long to long coat with a full ruff and a tight undercoat that becomes thicker in cold weather. All colors and most patterns are accepted.
Hypoallergenic
Many people believe that the Siberian is hypoallergenic because Siberians have a lower than average occurence of FelD1 in their saliva. FelD1 is found in saliva and when a cat licks its fur, the saliva dries and flakes to create the dander to which people are allergic. While the amount of FelD1 can vary from cat to cat, and individual sensitivity varies, so many people who thought they could never have a cat are enjoying the love of a Siberian. We have certainly found this to be the case in our family.
Coat Care
Siberians enjoy carefree luxurious coats. In spring, the Siberian sheds his longer, heavier winter coat to make way for his summer coat, and in fall the cat sheds his lighter, shorter summer coat to prepare for winter. During these seasons additional grooming is helpful.
History and Origin
The Siberian Cats have been in Russia for hundreds of year. They have only been in the US for approximately 15 years and are considered a rare breed here.
